Our Impact Areas
Access to clean drinking water and reliable wastewater infrastructure are among the most pressing global challenges of our time. Billions of people worldwide lack dependable access to safe water, while vast quantities are lost daily through leaking pipe networks. At the same time, aging sewer and pipeline systems pose a growing threat to the environment, groundwater, and public health — risks that are only intensifying as climate change places ever greater pressure on critical infrastructure around the world.
Through its trenchless rehabilitation technologies, RELINE makes a direct contribution to protecting valuable water resources and modernizing existing infrastructure in a sustainable way. Compared to conventional open-cut construction methods, our solutions significantly reduce CO₂ emissions, construction times, traffic disruption, and impact on the environment and surrounding ecosystems.

The Strategic Pillars of Our Impact
RELINE's sustainability strategy rests on three core pillars: Innovation, Environmental Protection, and Partnerships. Together, these pillars drive the systematic integration of sustainability into our products, processes, and business decisions. Through this unified approach, RELINE actively shapes the transformation toward a more sustainable, resilient, and future-ready water infrastructure.
Environmental responsibility is inseparable from everything RELINE makes and does. Our solutions help protect groundwater, reduce water loss, and cut emissions significantly compared to conventional rehabilitation methods — while enabling municipalities and network operators to meet their climate targets more efficiently and modernize existing infrastructure with minimal resource consumption.
A key focus area is preventing environmental damage caused by leaking sewer systems. By stopping both infiltration and exfiltration, our products play a vital role in protecting soil, groundwater, and surface water. In doing so, we support not only environmental and climate protection, but also public health and the long-term integrity of natural ecosystems.

Our Contribution to the SDGs
As a systems provider of innovative trenchless pipe rehabilitation solutions, we recognize our responsibility to contribute to a more sustainable, resilient, and resource-efficient future. Our strategy, operational processes, and innovation activities are consistently aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
We focus on the areas where our technologies and expertise can deliver the greatest positive impact. Given the nature of our business, RELINE makes a particularly meaningful contribution to SDGs 6, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 17.

CLEAN WATER AND
SANITATION
SDG 6
We are committed to supporting the availability
and sustainable management of water
resources by extending the service life of
ageing water and wastewater networks.
Our trenchless UV liner solutions help
utilities reduce leakage, prevent contamination,
and improve system integrity — contributing
to safer potable water, improved
sanitation, and reduced water loss.
Our direct impact to SDG-6 in 2025:
888,000 m³ Water Savings

INDUSTRY, INNOVATION A
ND INFRASTRUCTURE
SDG 9
We actively promote resilient infrastructure
through innovative, trenchless rehabilitation
technologies. By enabling non-invasive
renewal of pipelines, our solutions minimize
disruption, reduce material consumption,
and enhance the long-term performance of
critical water infrastructure.

SUSTAINABLE CITIES
AND COMMUNITIES
SDG 11
Our technologies support municipalities in
maintaining reliable underground infrastructure
whilst limiting surface disruption,
noise, and traffic impact. This contributes
to more liveable, resilient, and sustainable
urban environments and supports the
long-term functionality of essential public
services.

RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION
AND PRODUCTION
SDG 12
We strive to improve resource efficiency
across the value chain by extending the
lifespan of existing assets rather than replacing
them. Our UV liner systems reduce
excavation, lower raw material demand, and
minimize construction waste compared to
traditional open-cut methods.
The long service life of the liners further
reduces the need for repeated interventions,
limiting land disturbance and resource
consumption over time.
We promote sustainable consumption
by supporting the integration of sustainability
criteria into procurement through
partnerships.

CLIMATE ACTION
SDG 13
By enabling trenchless rehabilitation, our
solutions significantly reduce greenhouse
gas emissions associated with excavation,
transportation, and construction activities.
We are committed to continuously improving
the environmental performance of our
products and operations to support climate
change mitigation.
Our direct impact to SDG-13 in 2025:
61,500 tCO₂e Savings

LIFE BELOW WATER
SDG 14
According to studies, wastewater exfiltration
is responsible for up to 19 % of nitrate
and phosphate enrichment in soil and
groundwater. R4 Excessive contamination
of the soil with these substances can have
serious ecological and health consequences,
such as soil acidification, loss of biodiversity
in the soil, and even water contamination,
which can have serious health
consequences.
UV-cured liners support the rehabilitation
and sealing of pipeline infrastructure,
helping to prevent leaks of wastewater and
other pollutants into soils, groundwater, rivers,
and marine environments. By reducing
the risk of uncontrolled discharges, these
solutions play a role in protecting biodiversity
and maintaining ecosystem health both
on land and in aquatic systems.

PARTNERSHIPS
FOR THE GOALS
SDG 17
The Sustainable Development Goals can
only be achieved through collective action.
Companies, governments, and other organisations
must work together to maximise the
impact of their respective contributions.
As a provider of UV-cured liner solutions,
the company contributes to SDG 17 by fostering
partnerships across the value chain
and beyond to scale impact and drive systemic
change. Collaboration with suppliers,
industry associations, municipalities and clients
enables the exchange of expertise, the
alignment of sustainability standards, and
the joint development of innovative and
more sustainable infrastructure solutions.
By leveraging partnerships RELINE supports
collective action toward sustainable
development and the achievement of the
Sustainable Development Goals.
